Position Overview:

The main function of the Technical Development Lead is to participate and guide the design and development of the SafeGuard Cyber platform. The focus will be to co-lead with the corresponding offshore development team lead to ensure the development work is well architected, designed, staffed and executed with desired efficiency and quality. The Technical Development Lead will work with the Product Management and Product Architecture team and communicate the design and architecture to the offshore team.

The ideal candidate for this position is a “hands-on” leader, self-starter, customer-focused and detail oriented. The candidate must be articulate, eager to learn different technologies, comfortable working with highly technical teams, and be able to work in a fast-paced, distributed environment.

The Technical Development Lead will report to the Engineering Development Director.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop the SafeGuard Cyber platform and related products
• Work closely with product managers to understand functional requirements and business priorities
• Communicate and work with the offshore development team for implementation
• Reduce the knowledge gap between the offshore and onshore teams
• Work in conjunction with developers to ensure design and development best practices are followed
• Work in conjunction with QA testers to ensure manual and automation testing best practices are followed
• Work together with architects to ensure highly secure, reliable, high available, and performant solutions are developed
• Mentor senior and junior level engineers

Required Qualifications:

• BS degree or higher in Computer Science/Engineering
• 10+ years of overall technology experience
• 5 years experience in a Development Lead role
• Strong understanding of architecture & product design and their relation to infrastructure requirements
• Strong understanding of tradeoffs: technology vs. project cost & timing vs. on-going production support
• Hands-on java programming skills and ability to roll up sleeves as needed
• Strong team management, leadership and multi-tasking skills
• Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail
• Experience with a Cloud Service Provider such as AWS

Ideal Qualifications:

• Extensive experience with:
  • Managing PDLC using agile methodology and CI/CD operations
  • Managing multiple PDLC’s in parallel
  • Managing onshore and offshore teams across multiple time zones and regions
• Java development using the technologies like Spring Boot, Elastic Search, MongoDB, Cassandra, Postgres, Oracle and ElasticSearch
• Container-driven development using Docker and Kubernetes
• Ability to apply security best practices in design and development
• Some experience with GDPR compliance will be an asset
• Large data collection/integration/analytic project experience a plus
