About the Role

Capella is currently seeking an Electrical Test Engineer to join our spacecraft team in San Francisco, CA. The spacecraft team is responsible for integration, test, and verification of everything that ultimately goes to space, as well as the supporting ground test infrastructure. You will be collaborating cross-functionally with electrical design, RF systems design, flight software, ground software, mechanical, and spacecraft operations teams to validate and deliver subsystems and verify performance at the spacecraft assembly level. This position provides growth opportunities for either a dynamic or a specialized role across the company depending on interest.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the verification and troubleshooting of the spacecraft radar electronics and avionics through all phases of spacecraft production
  • Define processes and test procedures to ensure the robustness of our validation methodology to ensure 100% test coverage
  • Bring-up and test of power, high-speed digital, and RF subassemblies
  • Develop testing automation scripts to expedite testing and improve reliability
  • Design fixtures and circuits to further support automated testing systems
  • Deploy software changes to spacecraft testbeds to support testing infrastructure
  • Debug systems operating out of specification and perform failure analyses
  • Support design changes to spacecraft hardware to improve performance and improve testability
  • Train other engineers, technicians, and contract manufacturers on how to run various tests
  • Vendor management (e.g. PCB assembly, purchasing parts)
  • Engineering documentation control (parts lists, drawings, procedures)

Requirements

  • Hands-on PCB bring up and testing experience
  • Familiarity with electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and power supplies
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python
  • Familiarity with operating in a Linux environment
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills with attention to detail
  • Understanding of hardware evaluation methodologies, including development of test cases/suites, performance analysis, test automation, and data analysis
  • Knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics
  • Ability to work in highly integrated environments with high amounts of interaction between complex hardware and software systems
  • Capability to conduct technical investigations to solve hard problems and improve designs and processes
  • Bachelor of Science in engineering or 4+ years of relevant experience
  • US Citizen or US Permanent Resident

Compensation Range: $73,000 - $120,000
