About the Role

Capella Space is seeking a technically skilled Facilities & Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Engineering Manager to own and optimize our production infrastructure and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations. This is a high-impact role responsible for facility systems, equipment readiness, asset tracking, regulatory compliance, and operational safety in a fast-paced space system manufacturing environment.

You will lead infrastructure projects, oversee preventive maintenance, manage environmental health and safety programs, and scale systems to support rapid production growth — ensuring our facilities enable innovation, reliability, and mission success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive long-term facility planning, capital project execution, and site readiness for future expansion.
  • Lead technical planning, design, upgrades, maintenance and modifications to facility infrastructure (HVAC, power, cleanrooms, thermal vacuum chambers, compressed gases, etc.).
  • Manage daily facility operations including layout optimization, BMS oversight, budgets, and vendor coordination.
  • Own preventive maintenance and support capital equipment installation and commissioning.
  • Develop and own asset management plan for all capital equipment.
  • Ensure EH&S programs comply with OSHA, EPA, and local regulations. Conduct audits and drive incident response.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans for various scenarios, including natural disasters and facility incidents.
  • Develop and implement waste management programs to ensure proper disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.

Required:

  • 8+ years in facilities engineering, manufacturing infrastructure, or operations support.
  • Proven experience in facility planning, upgrades, or equipment integration projects.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems, asset management tools, and EH&S compliance.
  • Strong technical and project management skills in production environments.
  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Capella Employees must be a U.S. citizen, lawful U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State and/or the U.S. Department of Commerce, as applicable. Preferred:

  • Background in aerospace or similar deep-tech high-reliability hardware manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting layout changes, facility build-outs, or scaling infrastructure.
  • OSHA 30, PMP, or LEED certifications.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this role as it is posted is $106,664.00 - $141,329.80. The final job level and annual salary will be determined based on the education, qualification, knowledge, skills, ability, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location and calibrated against relevant market data and internal team equity.
